The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center's 2026 Gala played for one night only on Sunday, August 2, with a reception, dinner, and performance built around a double occasion: an evening honoring outgoing board chair Margaret Deutsch, and a rare Berkshires appearance by Anthony Roth Costanzo, the countertenor who's sung at the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, and the Guggenheim, and who now runs Opera Philadelphia as its general director.

Guests gathered on Castle Street for a 5pm reception ahead of dinner and Costanzo's 8pm performance. The benefit helps fund the Mahaiwe's year-round programming. Here's a look inside the night.
