This year’s Columbia-Greene Garden Party, Alliance for Positive Health’s popular annual summer fundraiser, was held on Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Kinderhook, New York home of John Hannam. Unlike many past Garden Party locations, the historic 1785 brick Federal-style home, also known as the Van Schaack House, currently is on the market. Perhaps some guests pictured themselves living on-site as they toured parts of the home, and enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the back yard and the side garden with koi pond and fountain. Simons Catering prepared and served small bites, with help from Chatham Wine & Liquor and Harvest Spirits Farm Distillery, and Kelli Mittelman’s band returned again this year to offer mood music. Local friends and businesses donated coveted items such as one-of-a-kind vintage furniture and accessories, art, experiences and more to the silent auction. APH’s Executive Director Bill Faragon made note that, since the non-profit is turning 35 this year, it aims to raise an additional $35,000 to celebrate its achievements and fund its future. All money raised goes directly to services for APH’s clients, those living with or impacted by HIV/AIDS or other chronic illnesses.
