April 17 | Kinderhook, NY | 6pm | $20

Van Buren Hall, the performance space attached to Kinderhook's village hall, hosts a well-matched double bill on April 17 with Glenn Jones and PG Six. presented by Saisonnier.

Jones is a practitioner of "American primitive guitar," the fingerpicking style pioneered by John Fahey, known for intricate acoustic compositions drawing from folk, blues, and experimental music. He turned away from standard tuning decades ago, inventing his own open tunings and using custom-crafted partial capos. Before his solo career he was a founding member of the Boston post-rock ensemble Cul de Sac, and has spent years writing about and producing archival releases of Fahey's work.

PG Six is the project of Pat Gubler, a guitarist and songwriter who has been working the intersection of British and American folk traditions since the '90s, when he was part of the Tower Recordings collective. His solo work draws on '60s folk artists like Bert Jansch, Pentangle, and the Incredible String Band, alongside his own quietly distinctive songwriting. He records for Drag City. His most recent album, Murmurs & Whispers, came out in 2023.

Beverages will be provided by Saisonnier. Doors open at 6pm.

Van Buren Hall, 6 Chatham Street, Kinderhook, NY. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door for $20.
