At Pergola, Special Appearances Glorified Gardens

Maria Nation with Andre Baranowski, who featured her garden in his book "Garden Wild."
There were events taking place in two rooms on Saturday, April 27 at Pergola Home, the artful (and art-filled) home and garden shop in New Preston, Conn. Connecting the two events was Maria Nation, the screenwriter/gardener whose Ashley Falls, Mass. garden is featured in the new garden book from Rizzoli, Garden Wild: Wildflower Meadows, Prairie-Style Plantings, Rockeries, Ferneries, and other Sustainable Designs Inspired by Nature, which showcases 12 gardens photographed by Andre Baranowski. He was on one side of the shop, signing books. On the other, representatives from Trade Secrets sold tickets to the annual high-end garden show in Sharon, Conn. on May 18-19. Nation’s garden will be on the Trade Secrets garden tour this year. The final connection: Proceeds from the sale of Garden Wild will benefit Trade Secrets, which raises money for Women’s Support Services of Sharon, Conn. A new book, a renowned photographer, our own Maria Nation, and a worthy cause, all in one — as if one needs an excuse to enter the exquisite world of Pergola.
