You wont find fried dough or a ferris wheel at the 11th Annual Hancock Shaker Village Country Fair. You will find a pie-baking contest and wagon rides. There will be a juried show of new and antique quilts in the Round Stone Barn (as well as a hands-on opportunity to help create a "Linus" quilt for the needy), and a food tent (with offerings from Route 7 Grill, Castle Street Cafe, Pittsfield Brew Works and the Village's own Florence Gould Cafe.)

The theme of the fair is "sustainability," which was the Shakers' creed, and the village has enlisted vendors who work in that spirit to fill the Farmers' Market and Artisan Tents, where they will sell everything from maple-sugar treats and artisanal cheese to hand-crafted furniture, candles, and textiles. "It's so important to us that the Country Fair showcases sustainability in all its dimensions and makes it fun for families to learn about our mission and its connection to sustainable principled living," says Ellen Spear, president and CEO of Hancock Shaker Village.
