Hudson’s eclectic, community-powered artisan market, Basilica Farm & Flea, returns May 10 and 11 at Basilica Hudson. After 13 years, this weekend-long event will also be the launch of a slate of three seasonal markets. There will now also be a new Summer Market on July 12 and 13, along with the recently established Holiday Market on November 28 through 30.

On April 14, The full list of participating vendors was announced.

“For the first time ever, we’re launching a full season of markets,” says Basilica co-founder Melissa Auf der Maur. “With such big changes and challenges locally and globally, we’ve been asking ourselves how to best uphold our mission to be a platform for independent and innovative arts and culture. Presenting this enduring program is a clear path forward.”

Organized in partnership with Hudson-based design studio LikeMindedObjects, this spring’s edition brings more than 100 local vendors, artists, chefs, farmers, and small businesses under Basilica’s soaring industrial roof, continuing the event’s evolution as a hub for what organizers call a “socially and environmentally driven economy.”

The Spring Market will carry on Farm & Flea’s tradition of celebrating vintage, handmade, and locally grown goods—from pantry staples and home décor to wellness products, clothing, and small-batch spirits. But this year organizers are also promoting a stronger commitment to seasonal environmental education and community experiences. Visitors will find planting supplies and spring cleaning goods, plus hands-on programming to build connections with regional agriculture.

Free workshops like mushroom log inoculation hosted by Wally Farms offer a chance to learn more about regenerative growing techniques, while Petal To The Metal will be on hand to make fresh-cut bouquets in time for Mother’s Day. Over in the livestock tent, guests will get up close with sheep from Lime Kiln Farm.

There will be plenty of locally sourced food as usual too. Breezy Hill Orchard will serve both sweet and savory buckwheat crepes, while the team behind Quinnie’s will be crafting pulled pork sandwiches, housemade pickles, fresh salads, and vegetarian plates. Doves Diner, formerly known as the West Taghkanic Diner, will be pouring cocktails, beer, and wine at the bar while also offering food as well.

In the Basilica Back Gallery, Enoki—a Saugerties-based Asian pantry and vintage shop—will host Reflections of Home, a two-day celebration and installation that shares the stories of the Hudson Valley’s Asian diasporic community through food and design.

Meanwhile, LikeMindedObjects will present “TRY THIS!,” an installation focused on sustainable and accessible home goods. Featuring products like Blueland cleaning tablets and the Spoak interior design app, the exhibit is intended to introduce attendees to new tools for greener living.

First launched as an “Anti–Black Friday” event in 2013, Basilica Farm & Flea has grown into something bigger—part craft fair, part cultural gathering, part farmers market. Held in the raw, solar-powered 1880s former glue factory that is Basilica Hudson, the market is the largest of its kind in the region.

Auf der Maur, who founded Basilica Hudson alongside husband and filmmaker Tony Stone, sees Farm & Flea as a model for community resilience. “This is ‘think global, act local’ in action,” she says. “Bringing our humanity, and consuming, down to earth, as a time to share with our neighbors, while supporting small local businesses.”

McMahon, who has curated the event since 2017, echoed the sentiment. “Building community resilience through putting our money in the pockets of small business owners instead of big box corporate businesses will preserve the world we want to live within,” she says.

For longtime vendors like Petit Pilou, a handmade kids clothing brand, the impact is tangible. “We’ve been at Farm and Flea since the very first market and it is by far the best market of the entire year,” says co-founder Molly de St Andre. “It attracts a lot of people and it's a really eclectic crowd. It's a huge part of our holiday income, which is a critical time for small businesses like ours.”

The Basilica Farm & Flea Spring Market runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 10 and 11 at 110 South Front Street in Hudson. Tickets and vendor lists are available at basilicahudson.org/farm-flea. Admission is free for kids 12 and under.
