Berkshire South Regional Community Center in Great Barrington is a 40,000 square-foot facility that runs 125 programs a year for nearly 2,000 members. But on Thursday, Aug. 18, the most important number was 20, because it was a celebration of the organization’s two decades. Berkshire South has been a beloved community center since its inception, open to all regardless of ability to pay, with an emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility. Supporters, staff and board members gathered under the gala tent to enjoy robust hors d’oeuvres and drinks, then moved into the building where Executive Director Jenise Lucey honored the board chairs who have moved the organization forward over the last two decades. Proceeds from the live auction that followed will help keep the facility running for the next 20 years plus.
