From the very noticeable—festive live music by the six-piece band Planet Zydeco—to the completely hidden—the tiny plastic baby baked into the king cake—Bidwell House Museum’s Party Gras gala on Saturday, Aug. 19 was New Orleans inspired.
Each summer, the Museum hosts a fundraiser on its grounds to raise money for its educational programs. This year’s event also served to honor longtime friends and supporters Delight and Paul Dodyk. Delight, who has served on the Bidwell Board of Trustees for almost two decades, also co-chaired the organization’s recent capital campaign. The Dodyks have played host to many committee get-togethers over the years. Fellow board members attested to Delight’s sound advice, thoughtful approach to land conservation, and steady guidance as being a large part of the nonprofit’s success.
The annual summer gala is Bidwell House Museum’s largest fundraiser of the year. This year’s funds will go toward educational programs, as well as historic preservation of the house and collection, and care of the gardens and grounds.
