Rural Intelligence Arts

Brandt Bolding, a photographer and documentary filmmaker, spent three years documenting the agricultural life of up-state New York. ”While I recognize their place, I am not seeking to reproduce somewhat standard editorial shots of rural life, or lovely images suitable for coffee table books."  Instead Bolding's images bring to mind Walker Evans photographs of Alabama farms shot for Fortune Magazine in 1936, and later published, with text by James Agee, as “Let Us Now Praise Famous Men.” Red Devon Market Bar & RestaurantBangall, NY
