Close Encounters With Music (CEWM) closed its fall-to-spring chamber music series with a gala concert on Saturday, June 8 at The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. CEWM artistic director and renowned cellist Yehuda Hanani introduced the evening’s music program, “Like Father-in-Law, Like Son-in-Law,” which featured works by Antonin Dvořák and Josef Suk, noting the composers found inspiration in Czech folklore and the rhythms of daily life in 19th-century Prague. The brilliant performance featured Soyeon Kate Lee on piano, Peter Zazofsky and Irina Muresanu on violin, Michael Strauss on viola, and Yehuda Hanani on cello. CEWM patrons and the musicians gathered at the Stockbridge Golf Club following the show for a cocktail reception and dinner.
