Saturday, January 31, 2026 | Lenox Library (Welles Gallery), Lenox, MA | 2–4 pm

The Lenox Library invites makers of all ages and skill levels to its Crochet Coral Workshop, an afternoon of crochet, community art, and environmental imagination on Saturday, January 31, 2–4 pm. Participants will learn how to crochet a “coral” as part of the Berkshires Satellite Reef, a regional contribution to the global Crochet Coral Reef project created by artists Christine and Margaret Wertheim.

The workshop is hosted in the library’s Welles Gallery at 18 Main Street and welcomes anyone who loves to crochet—or wants to learn—to stitch pieces that will become part of an immersive coral reef installation exhibited at Williams College’s ’62 Center for Theatre & Dance in Williamstown next spring. Instruction and crochet kits are provided on the spot, and no prior experience is necessary; the activity is suited for makers ages 8 and up.

Beyond craft, the Crochet Coral Reef project is a creative response to climate change and the widespread threats facing Earth’s real coral ecosystems, drawing together art, science, and community labor in a celebratory, hands-on format.

All are welcome to drop in and contribute a stitch to this colorful, collaborative endeavor.
