Through May | Stockbridge, MA | Timed tickets required

Now in its seventh year, the Daffodil and Tulip Festival at Naumkeag runs through May, with eight acres of gardens in full spring bloom across the Trustees of Reservations property on Prospect Hill Road in Stockbridge.

The Stanford White-designed Gilded Age house and the surrounding gardens, laid out over decades by landscape designer Fletcher Steele beginning in the 1920s, sit on a hillside with Monument Mountain visible to the south. In May the formal gardens fill in with daffodils, tulips, and container plantings, and the greenhouse area hosts a pop-up plant sale with mixed bouquets, container plants, and spring bulbs. The first floor of the house is open for self-guided exploration, and outdoor concessions are available on the grounds.

A Mother's Day Tea is scheduled for Friday, May 8, a ticketed add-on to the festival for anyone looking to make a longer afternoon of it.

Naumkeag, 5 Prospect Hill Rd., Stockbridge, MA. Timed tickets required; register at thetrustees.org.

Dane’s dining room and parlor are both filled with second-hand treasures. Her Art Deco dining set has been central to multiple iterations of her home. “I’ve had this table since 1990,” says Dane. “This table has seen many a meal, many a poker game, and lots of production work.” The starburst chandelier came from a second-hand office supply store in Austin. “I bought four for $100,” she says.
