Amy Krzanik reports from Great Barrington. Fairview Hospital celebrated 100 years of caring in the community on Saturday, September 28, with its Here Come The Kid(s) Gala featuring Arlo Guthrie, and this year honoring Ernest and Anne Schnesel. Supporters mingled under the tent on the Town Hall Green, feasting on a seriously scrumptious smorgasbord from The Marketplace. Guests then filed into the Mahaiwe to watch a short film about the history of Fairview, how it has changed over the years, and what this fundraiser will make possible in the future. Then Arlo Guthrie took the stage, along with his son Abe Guthrie on keyboard, guitarist Bobby Sweet, and drummer Terry A La Berry. Guthrie told stories and played songs he'd written, along with tunes by his father Woody Guthrie and other songwriters he admires. Two standing ovations and one encore later, concertgoers joined the rest of the town back on the Green for celebratory fireworks, in a spectacular ending to a great night.
