Rural Intelligence Arts

Rachel Louchen reports from Greenport. The only thing more beautiful than the view of the Hudson Valley and the madcap Persian-inspired house that Frederic Church built for himself, were the art-inspired hors d’oeurves served at the Olanafest Gala, October 7. Held on the east lawn of the historical home, guests mingled to sunset music while enjoying food prepared from local restaurants inspired by some of the art hanging just a few feet away inside the Olana party tent. Last year's turnout of 200 more that doubled this year -- no surprise to longtime supporter Paula Rickborn (at left with Ed Beatty), “People are passionate about Olana. It’s really a gem.”
