"The Taste-full Garden: Outstanding Kitchen Garden Selections from White Flower Farm," brings the farm's nursery manager Barbara Pierson to Hollister House Garden on April 25, and if you want to know which new fruit and vegetable varieties are actually worth growing this year, she's the expert for you.

Pierson has spent 26 years running the White Flower gardens, where new edible varieties get put through their paces, and last year the farm became an official All-America Selections trial site, meaning they're now formally evaluating the most promising new seeds on the market before most gardeners have even heard of them.

The 90-minute talk covers kitchen garden standouts. the performers, the flavor winners, the varieties that actually do what the catalog says. She'll also get into pairing edibles with ornamentals, growing in small spaces and containers, and the basics of soil prep, fertilizing, and timing your harvests for peak flavor.

The real draw for serious gardeners is that Pierson is bringing a hand-selected batch of cool-season vegetable starts, available exclusively to lecture attendees for purchase after the talk. It's as close as you'll get to a first look at what White Flower Farm's trial gardens are excited about this spring.
