Grammy Winner Nicole Zuraitis Plays Two Shows at the Mahaiwe's Indigo Room
The jazz singer, pianist, and songwriter performs at 5:30pm and 8:30pm with her quartet, weeks after releasing a 20-track concept album.

Nicole Zuraitis brings her quartet to the Indigo Room at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center for two performances on October 3, at 5:30pm and 8:30pm.
Zuraitis is a two-time Grammy winner and six-time nominee. Her album How Love Begins, co-produced with bassist Christian McBride, won Best Jazz Vocal Album at the 2024 Grammys. She also produced Bianca Reimagined, her husband Dan Pugach's album, which won Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album the following year. Her live album "Live at Vic's Las Vegas" earned two more nominations in 2026.
Her newest record, "The Devil I Knew," came out July 17 on her own La Reserve Records, produced with Larry Klein. It's a 20-track, five-part song cycle about a love story coming apart and the reckoning afterward, with chapters titled The Mirror, The Martyr, The Malediction, The Reckoning, and The Requiem. McBride plays on it, along with guitarist Gilad Hekselman, saxophonist Donny McCaslin, and organist Larry Goldings. Zuraitis sang and played live without a click track. McBride devoted an episode of NPR's "Jazz Night in America" to the album.
She has described her aim as reviving a "New Romanticism" in jazz, and she calls her genre the Modern Songbook. Jazz Police has praised her "heart as big as her remarkable voice." She plays close to 150 shows a year and largely manages herself, she told WBGO's Leo Sidran.
