It normally wouldn’t be too much to ask to enjoy sunny Berkshire weather on the day of your August event. But the summer of 2023 has been wet—really wet—in New England, and to have clear skies on Saturday, Aug. 12 was lucky indeed for Hancock Shaker Village. Although thunderstorms were in the forecast, this year’s Summer at the Village gala was a sun-dappled affair. Cocktails on the lawn were followed by dinner catered by Mezze and a live auction of art and experiences in the tent. Guests were treated to live music by The Lucky 5 during the cocktail hour and a set by Will Evans during dinner.
This year’s cause within a cause raised funds to repaint the exteriors of some of the Village’s historic buildings and preserve them for future generations. Buildings set for repainting include the Sisters' Dairy and Weave Shop, the Brethren’s Shop, the Ministry Shop, and the Laundry and Machine Shop.
