Your guide to finding (and posting) the best happenings in the region
One of the most exciting features of the new Rural Intelligence website is our revamped events calendar. This tool is designed to help readers quickly zero in on exactly what they want to do across the region. Whether you’re looking for a gallery opening, a pop-up dinner event, a winter festival, or live jazz set, the new calendar makes it easier than ever to explore all that’s happening.
Here’s a simple walkthrough of how to use the calendar and how event organizers can add their own listings.

When you first open the calendar, you’ll see a streamlined dashboard. At the top, the search bar allows you to enter keywords instantly pulling up matching events.
If you prefer to browse, the calendar’s main navigation tabs let you toggle between multiple layouts. You can change the way the listings are laid out to show more or less information, and you can even pull up a map of the RI region populated with pins of the event types you’re looking for.
Events are tagged by type—music, food & drink, outdoor activities, theater, community events, workshops, family-friendly, and more. Checking one or multiple boxes lets you zero in on what you love.

If you want to stay close to home—or plan a weekend adventure—you can filter by town or county. It’s a great option for readers who want to get more plugged into a specific spot.
Looking for something to do tonight? Or planning ahead for the holidays? Use the date selector to limit results to exactly the span you're interested in.
Free events are now easy to find, and you can filter by ticket price when budgeting out your weekend.
Using a few filters together is the fastest way to move from “I wonder what’s happening?” to “Let’s go!”
We want the calendar to reflect the full richness of life in our four-county region—and that means relying on local artists, venues, nonprofits, farms, libraries, restaurants, galleries, festivals, and community organizers to share their events.
If you’re planning an event, submitting your listing is simple:

Whether you’re looking to fill your weekend or share your next event, the new calendar is built to make those connections easier. It’s intuitive, fast, and designed with our region’s diverse arts, culture, and community landscape in mind.
Explore it today, check back often, and if you’re hosting something special, don’t forget to add your event.
