Jack Grace plays Roe Jan Brewing Co. on August 21. He's had a genre-spanning career that started in drama school and ended up somewhere between country, rock, and Latin music.
Grace grew up in Brooklyn and studied drama at NYU with plans to act before music took over. His first band, Steak, mixed a Zappa-inspired sound with funk and built a following in Boulder before he brought it to San Francisco and eventually New York. His solo work has ranged widely since. The country-leaning "Martini Cowboy" era, a shift toward Latin influences after frequent trips to Mexico following a move to Bearsville, NY, and his most recent record, "Everything I Say Is A Lie," produced by Joan Jett and Steve Earle's former guitarist Eric Ambel, which included a duet with Norah Jones. He's shared stages with Doc Watson, Fishbone, Junior Brown, The Meters, and Merle Haggard.
Grace has also written and scored music for the movies "Super Troopers" films and "Beerfest." He recently spent a year in the UK recording his upcoming album, "What a Way to Spend the Night,"
