Centerstage Productions brings "Mary Poppins" to the Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck in a full-scale production running January 16 through February 1. Based on the stories by P. L. Travers and the beloved Disney film, the musical pairs the Sherman Brothers’ iconic songs with additional music by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, under the direction of Duane Joseph Olson.

With a large local cast, lush choreography, and a rotating double-cast for the title role, the production leans into spectacle and nostalgia. The staging emphasizes the show’s enduring themes: imagination as a corrective to routine, kindness as a form of discipline, and the quiet possibility that change begins at home. It’s a family-friendly winter anchor for Rhinebeck’s performing arts calendar—bright, buoyant, and timeless.
