There was much to celebrate at the annual Jacob’s Pillow Gala in Becket on Saturday, June 18 (weather not being one of them; it was rainy, with temps in the 40s). The venerable international dance festival, back to indoor performances after two years of strictly outdoor dancing, was celebrating its 90th anniversary. The event also introduced the newly renovated Ted Shawn Theatre, celebrating its 80th anniversary as the first venue in America to be built specifically for dance. For dance aficionados, it was a star-studded evening, filled with eminent dancers, choreographers and company directors introduced by decade during the evening’s performances, and remarks by the Pillow’s Executive and Artistic Director Pamela Tatge. Afterward, guests moved into the tent for a silent auction and dinner, followed by the gala after party. The 90th anniversary gala raises critical funds to support Jacob’s Pillow performances, free public programs, the Archives, National Historic Landmark grounds, and The School at Jacob’s Pillow.
