Williams College’s Dance Department presents its annual fall festival “Pachedu,” a celebration of movement, rhythm, and community whose title translates to “among ourselves.” The evening highlights the department’s full range of ensembles and artistic traditions under the guidance of program directors Sandra L. Burton, Erica Dankmeyer, Tendai Muparutsa, and Janine Parker, with student leadership from Yasemin Sukal ’26 and Ian Dominic ’27, Eniola Olabode ’27, and Keredin Samuel ’27.

The performance showcases contemporary works by CoDa, the powerful storytelling and polyrhythms of Kusika, the precision and energy of Sankofa’s step-dance repertoire, and the vibrant sounds of the Zambezi Marimba Band, whose music draws from Zimbabwe, the African Diaspora, and global traditions. Audiences are invited to experience an evening that reflects the department’s commitment to cultural exchange, collaboration, and embodied expression.
