Simple and perfect: That's Ooma Tesoro's recipe using a 26-oz jar of its magic marinara sauce.
Ooma Tesoro’s Mussels Fra Diavolo
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs of fresh mussels
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 3 large cloves of garlic, sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley plus a few sprigs to garnish
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 3/4 cup dry white wine (we like pinot grigio)
- 26oz jar of Ooma Tesoro's marinara sauce
Instructions:
- In a large sauté pan on medium heat, add the oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, and parsley.
- Sauté until garlic is slightly golden, then add the white wine and let it evaporate.
- Once the oil starts frying, add the jar of sauce. Lower the heat to medium and simmer for ten minutes.
- Rinse the mussels under cold water and remove the beard that’s on the side.
- Once the sauce is hot and bubbling, add the mussels and turn up the heat.
- Place the lid on the pan, and give it a shake every two minutes.
- After five minutes, remove the lid and let some water evaporate for a couple of minutes.
- They are now ready to eat.
- Serve with pasta (you can make it ahead) and/or bread.
