July 25, 5–8pm | Copake, NY
The Copake Hamlet closes down Main Street on July 25 for its summer block party, Rock Around the Clock, centered on the Copake Memorial Clock and running down Main Street to the Copake Hamlet apartments. The event is free and organized around a straightforward mix of food, music, games, and small-town commerce.
Aloha Tacos and Hudson Valley Falafel food trucks will be onhand along with burgers and hot dogs grilled by Our Lady of Hope Church, ice cream from the Methodist Church, and samosas from the Clock Tower Pub & Grill. Drinks are available from Copake Wine Works, the Clock Tower Pub & Grill, and Corona d'Oro, while the Copake General Store, Church St. Deli, and Dad's Diner all stay open for the evening.
DJ Prestige spins from the front porch of the Copake General Store to keep the dancing going all evening, with warm-up band Capr!—a group of young players covering familiar songs—opening things up. Kids' entertainment includes face painting by Tracy Hanselman, a bouncy house with bouncy soccer and basketball sponsored by Kneller Insurance, and magician Jeffrey Jene, sponsored by Copake Lake Realty, Copake Auction, and The Town CPA. Local craft vendors set up in front of the Copake Hamlet apartments, and a small car show runs at Dad's Diner.
Main Street closes to through traffic from Farm Road to the Clock between 4:30 and 8:30pm. Parking is available at the Post Office, Key Bank, the municipal lot, the old Taconic Telephone building, Copake Auction, and the VFW field on Route 7A.
The block party is sponsored by the Town of Copake and local businesses, organized by members of the Copake Economic Development Advisory Committee and Park Commission.
