Roe Jan SummerFest Pours the Best of Columbia County

Saturday, August 8, 4–8pm | Hillsdale, NY

Roe Jan SummerFest returns to Hillsdale on August 8, an indoor-outdoor tasting event bringing together wine, beer, spirits, and cider producers from Columbia County and beyond. Adult admission includes samples from every beverage vendor, with bottles and six-packs available for purchase if something catches your palate. A teetotaler ticket option lets non-drinkers join in without the alcohol; kids 12 and under get in free.

Food comes from trucks on site along with the menus at Roe Jan Brewing Co. and Twisted Sisters Coffee House, both hosting the festival grounds. Live music comes from Garrin Benfield and Friends. Benfield is a Columbia County-based singer-songwriter and looping guitarist whose sound has been described as freestyle acoustic rock—moody, guitar-driven, and built on complex, flat-picked arrangements layered live with a loop pedal. He's been touring nationally since 2000, toured in support of Boz Scaggs, was named Advocate magazine's Number One Indie Artist of 2005, and gained early notice for "What You're Hiding," a tribute to Matthew Shepard later used in a production of "The Laramie Project." He's released five full-length albums.

Activities are planned for both kids and adults, leashed dogs are welcome, and craft vendors round out the grounds. Proceeds from the festival benefit three organizations: the Harlem Valley Rail Trail, Friends of East Gate, and Columbia Kitchen.
