April 3 | Great Barrington, MA | 8–10:30pm
At Barrington Hall on April 3, Sean Rowe brings his steady voice to an intimate room, joined by Jenna Nicholls. Rowe’s work sits in a stripped-down corner of folk and Americana. His baritone, often compared to late-era Johnny Cash, does the work, allowing arrangements to stay raw.
Originally from Troy, New York, Rowe spent years building a following regionally before releasing "Magic" (2009) and "The Salesman and the Shark" (2012), records that helped define his reputation for minimal, voice-driven songwriting. His later albums expanded his audience without shifting that core approach. His songs have appeared in film and television—most notably To Leave Something Behind in "The Accountant.".
Nicholls opens the evening with a lighter but equally direct style. Her songwriting tends toward clarity and emotional precision, drawing on a background that includes classical piano training and years working within New York’s folk and indie scenes.
