Up until the very day, it was questionable whether the event at South Farms in Morris, Conn. was going to be a spring or late-winter soiree. But on Saturday, May 18, spring came through like a champ, and the pop-up dinner was able to commence with cocktails in the courtyard before dinner in the barn. The occasion allowed farmer Ben Paletsky and his business partner Sarah Worden to show off the “new” (and very elegant) White Barn, Connecticut’s largest historic farm venue that includes a parlor, hayloft, bull room and stone barn. Seated at long tables, guests could enjoy Chef Ryan Brown's farm-to-table meal knowing that a portion of the price of that meal included a donation to FISH (Friends in Service to Humanity) of NWCT, and specifically its food pantry, which purchases food 11 months of the year to fill its shelves.
