If you love libraries, you love not only being in them, you love supporting them and surrounding yourself with books and authors. All of that came into play for the attendees at the The White Hart Speaker Series on Thursday, Dec. 6, when the featured speaker was bestselling author Susan Orlean (The Orchid Thief) who presented her latest work, The Library Book. Her appearance was presented in collaboration with Oblong Books & Music and served as a fundraiser for the Scoville Memorial Library in Salisbury, Conn. The author, who lives in Gallatin, New York, was on her second-to-last night of a 32-city book tour. The Library Book reopens the unsolved mystery of the catastrophic Los Angeles Library fire, and is a love letter to a beloved institution, our libraries.
