In this day and age of specialty drinks, we credit Three Meadows Spirits' Peony Vodka, infused with peonies from Sugar Maple Farms in Millerton, New York, for concocting a Thanksgiving cocktail that includes pumpkin puree along with the spirits and spices. It's an original and seasonally perfect alternative to eggnog and mulled wine.

Pumpkin Peony

1.5 oz Peony Vodka
1/8 tsp pumpkin spice or Jamaican allspice
1.5 oz unsweetened half & half (or non-dairy creamer for those who don't do dairy)
1.5 tbsp pumpkin puree (we used organic canned pumpkin, but fresh works just as well)
1 tsp maple syrup (if your guests prefer a sweeter drink, add more maple syrup to taste)

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add vodka, half and half, pumpkin puree, spices and maple syrup. Shake vigorously and strain into a glass. Add a sprinkle of pumpkin spice or ground nutmeg to garnish.
