Volunteers in Medicine is a Berkshires-based organization that performs “magic” that changes people’s lives every day. On Saturday, Aug. 10, VIM celebrated its mission to provide access to quality healthcare for income-qualified, uninsured and underinsured residents with a busy lineup of music, cocktails, gambling, a silent auction and dancing. The site was Gedney Farm in New Marlborough, Mass. where guests dodged occasional raindrops as they dashed between food stations, the gambling tables and silent auction signups. Following close behind them were two roving magicians whose sleight of hand delighted partygoers. This is clearly a beloved organization, as both the guest and donor lists were long, proving that its vision — a society in which all members of our community have access to quality healthcare — is one many support.
