20 Years of Dance at Art Omi Culminates in a One-Time Alumni Reunion

Art Omi: Dance marks two decades of its residency program this summer with a one-time anniversary edition, pausing the usual annual cycle to bring back alumni who first met each other in residence. Led by Residency Program Director Christopher K. Morgan and Program Manager jeremy de'jon guyton, three international collaborations returned to the Hudson Valley campus from July 23 to August 10 to create new short-form dance works built specifically around the connection, curiosity, and creative risk that have defined the program since it began in 2006.

The anniversary works had their first public showing on August 1 at the Henry J. Leir Stage at Jacob's Pillow in Becket. The Ghent showing on August 8 brings the same works home to the campus where they were made, staged at the Studio Barn. The event runs rain or shine and is free with RSVP; walk-ins are welcome.

Over its twenty years, Art Omi: Dance has built a reputation as one of the more internationally minded residency programs of its kind in the country, regularly pairing choreographers and dancers across borders and disciplines in ways that don't always happen in more insular residency models. This anniversary edition, reuniting collaborators rather than introducing new ones, is a deliberate look back at what those two decades of connections have actually produced.
