Preface: The following puns and literary references are courtesy of the Lenox Library’s fundraiser, so please, no accusations of plagiarism. But they were perfectly fitting at the gala on Thursday, June 14. The event committee did a superb job, starting with photos on the READ Carpet, LIBations created for the evening (choice of a Hemingway Daiquiri or Fear & Loathing in Lenox), a “Tale of Two Cities” auctions, and a finale to the festivities upstairs with desserts and dancing in the Dome Room. Items in the auctions included four box seats to a Red Sox game, a set of four front-row seats to the Yankees, a week in the south of France and other novel experiences. We left before the auction prizes were determined, but can only hope that all proved to be best sellers.
