Ancram Center for the Arts seems to like peripatetic fundraising events. Last year, it hosted a benefit performance of The Plein Air Plays Plus!, in which guests traveled to three locations for an original half-hour play. But true to the Center’s mission to forge connection and a sense of community for residents of rural Ancram, the locations are always local and pastoral. On Saturday, October 26, the Center’s supporters were treated to “Centuries Plus: A Celebration in Two Acts, 2024.” Act One of the event: a performance of “Centuries,” a poignant concert production of a new musical storytelling experience that follows a family over two generations and explores how landscapes and people change with time. Act Two: An after-party at The Barn @ Doodletown, with food catered by Chef Hannah Wong and wines curated by Copake Wine Works. Funds raised through the event will support Ancram Center’s annual season of contemporary performances, including the development of innovative new work by visionary theater makers. “Centuries,” the musical, was workshopped during the creators’ Summer Play Lab residency, and runs through November 3,

Kate Douglas, Matthew Dean Marsch, and Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez, the performers who wrote the music, book and lyrics for "Centuries."
