Amy Krzanik reports from Pittsfield.Barrington Stage Company (BSC) celebrated its 19th gala on Saturday, June 22, this year honoring “dedicated educator, fearless leader, and community activist" Shirley Edgerton. Edgerton is the director of Youth Alive, Inc., co-founder of the Lift Ev’ry Voice Festival, and founder and director of the Rites of Passage and Empowerment Program. The evening began with a special viewing of BSC’s current hit musical comedy On The Town, followed by cocktails at St. Joseph’s High School. The cast mingled with BSC board members, generous theater patrons, and guests as they perused and bid on silent auction items. The school gymnasium was transformed into a chic NYC-style after-hours club for the evening and served as an elegant setting for dinner catered by Max Ultimate Food. A live auction followed, and the night ended with dancing to the O-Tones. (Shirley Edgerton is pictured left with her mother, Ellen Green.)
