Berkshire Immigrant Center’s Board Chair Rose Ellis describes the nonprofit as “a small organization with a big mission and a big heart.” The Pittsfield-based BIC, whose reach spans the county, received help on Friday evening, June 7 from a Barnraiser benefit in Williamstown, Mass. Hosts Tracy Finnegan, a BIC board member, and husband Joe Finnegan hosted cocktails on the lawn, eats from Berkshire Palate, a silent auction and a roster of live music including Jen Crowell, board member Colin Ovitsky and his band, singer and guitarist Scott Wong, and Double Diamond. The hoedown served as a chance for the Center to celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month and to introduce its brand-new executive director, Michelle Lopez, who had been on the job a total of three weeks at the time. All proceeds from the event will go to support critical services provided to local immigrants.
