Friday, November 6, 5:30–8pm | Pittsfield, MA

The Berkshire Museum holds an adult-focused, escape-room-style evening, “Creatures of the Night at the Museum,” on November 6. Guests test their knowledge of ancient Egypt and complete challenges to see whether they can enter the Field of Reeds, the afterlife in Egyptian belief. The museum says the journey to the afterlife was a complicated process involving the practices and magic of the ancient Egyptians. Light refreshments are served, and there’s a cash bar.

The event is the exhibition-themed “Night at the Museum” for Soulful Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt, on view through January 17, 2027. The show is on loan from the Brooklyn Museum and examines the practice of animal mummification and the role animals played in Egyptian religion and daily life. It pairs preserved mummies and related artifacts with modern scientific imaging, and it includes a silver, gold, and wood ibis coffin from the Ptolemaic period. The exhibition is organized by Yekaterina Barbash and Edward Bleiberg of the Brooklyn Museum and fills Galleries 206 to 208.

Berkshire Museum, 39 South Street, Pittsfield, MA. Tickets at berkshiremuseum.org or 413-443-7171.
