“I’m excited to see so many new faces in the room. You’re family now,” said Jonathon Loy, director of productions and co-founder of the Berkshire Opera Festival, at its season kickoff and fundraiser on Sunday, June 11 at Gedney Farm in New Marlborough. Indeed, the dinner was sold out, packed with friends and supporters of the opera company, which will present its eighth season with a mainstage production of Puccini’s "La Bohème" August 26-September 1. Following drinks and hors d’oeuvres — and the opportunity to bid on silent auction items named after characters in the opera — guests were treated not only to dinner but musical selections performed by guest artist Teresa Perrotta and BOF Artistic Director and Co-Founder Brian Garman. Guests were also the first to be informed about what next year’s mainstage opera will be, but that was off-the-record intel and will not be disclosed here.
