Connection has been key to the work of Community Access to the Arts (CATA) for all of its 26 years of existence. And this year its gala theme, NEXUS, from the Latin and meaning “a binding together,” was indicative of the ways in which the non-profit weaves together artists, advocates and the community in order to form a stronger whole. On Saturday, May 11, more than 50 local performers with disabilities shared their talents in dance, drama, juggling, music and comedy with a packed house of supporters and friends in Shakespeare & Company’s Tina Packer Playhouse. Funds raised at the event support hundreds of arts workshops for more than 800 people with disabilities in Berkshire and Columbia counties.
