On Friday, February 27 at 7:30pm, singer-songwriter Chrissi Poland presents "Forever: Muscle Shoals" at the Mahaiwe, an intimate concert tracing the musical legacy of Muscle Shoals, Alabama—a historic crucible of popular music.
Poland’s performance revisits the deep catalog of songs and sounds associated with Muscle Shoals’ legendary studios and session players, spotlighting material tied to icons such as Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, and Otis Redding, as well as the songwriters and rhythm architects behind them. Her approach isn’t a straightforward tribute so much as a thoughtful engagement with the region’s musical DNA.
