January 24 | Fisher Center at Bard, Sosnoff Theater – Annandale-on-Hudson, NY | 7–9pm

An evening at the Fisher Center at Bard invites listeners into a compelling musical dialogue between Czech and Ukrainian voices when violinist Dmytro Tkachenko and conductor Tatiana Kalinichenko lead TŌN in Dvořák and the Music of Ukraine, a one-night-only concert that blends rich Romantic expressiveness with the resilient spirit of Ukrainian composition.

The program juxtaposes Antonín Dvořák’s lyrical Violin Concerto—in which Tkachenko negotiates sweeping melodies and a finale infused with Czech folk dance—with the vocal energies of Ukrainian creation: the U.S. premiere of Victoria Poleva’s "Nova," a powerful work honoring courage and perseverance; Levko Kolodub’s "Ukrainian Carpathian Rhapsody No. 1," with its regional colors and textures; and the U.S. premiere of Yevhen Stankovych’s suite from "The Vikings."
