For registered voters who at the last minute find it impossible to vote locally on Election Day, options vary state-to-state. Alas, Connecticut voters with a last-minute change of plans are out of luck unless they had the foresight to apply for an absentee ballot. In Massachusetts "absentee in person" voting is permitted but only under limited circumstances (for details click here). But in New York State, early voting is permitted. A Columbia or Dutchess County resident who cannot get to his or her assigned polling station on Election Day, may vote in person at the Board of Elections office in the county seat (for details see below). For the rest of us, polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. See you there.
