Great Barrington’s Fairview Hospital, a part of Berkshire Health Systems, held its annual fundraising gala on the green outside the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Sept. 22. This year’s honoree was the hospital’s Vice President of Operations and Chief Nurse Doreen Hutchinson.
Guests enjoyed dinner by Marketplace under the tent before filing into the theater. As is customary, the hospital showed its lighthearted side in a video directed by Ben Hillman, where Wanda Houston played Florence Nightingale and the crowd received a behind-the-scenes look at Doreen’s day at work. Hailed as caring, dedicated and inspiring, Doreen, who “eats, sleeps and breathes nursing” received a standing ovation of thanks from the packed house. A performance by The Legendary Ladies of Motown — Martha Reeves and Mary Wilson — capped the evening. Funds from this year’s event go toward updating Fairview’s cardiac monitoring system.
