February 20 | Kaatsbaan Cultural Park (Studio 2), Tivoli, NY | 6pm
At Kaatsbaan Cultural Park, winter programming invites you into process with a new work dance preview by the Bang Group on Friday, February 20 at 6pm.
Directed by choreographer David Parker and dancer Jeffrey Kazin, The Bang Group may be familiar to Kaatsbaan audiences for Nut/Cracked, their irreverent reimagining of The Nutcracker. Outside of that seasonal hit, the company’s practice centers on blending tap, body percussion, voice, and contemporary movement into pieces that balance precision with wit.
The February preview features excerpts from Sodbusters, an ongoing project that pushes against traditional tap vocabulary through humor, gesture, and layered rhythmic play. Also included is a new duet choreographed by Parker and longtime collaborator Sara Hook, a contemporary work exploring how past performances linger in—and collide within—the bodies of seasoned dancers.
Free to attend with RSVP, the 45-minute showing takes place in Studio 2 of the Studio Complex.
