Now Touching Down In North Adams: Tourists Debuts The Airport Rooms
The Airport Rooms opens to the public on Friday, Feb. 22, but we've got a sneak peek of the new restaurant/lounge.

On Friday night, Feb. 15, Tourists, the North Adams hotel that opened this past summer on the site of the old Redwood Motel, debuted The Airport Rooms, its newly refurbished circa 1813 farmhouse that will now serve as a restaurant/lounge space. The private party gave friends a chance to sip cocktails, enjoy snacks from the site’s new chef, Greg Thomas, and tour the building. Downstairs spaces include small and large lounge areas, café tables and a communal table for dining or drink sipping. Upstairs dining rooms are available for evening rentals, holding around 10 people each, and benefiting from in–house food service. The vibe is decidedly historic farmhouse, with walls stripped down to their roots, vintage glassware, velvet fainting couches and farm tables existing comfortably with updated mood lighting and Tourists’ own soundtrack piped into each room. Founded by music-lovers, including Wilco bassist John Stirratt, Tourists frequently hosts live performances, and this evening featured a set from Folk Uke (Cathy Guthrie and Amy Nelson) with a guest appearance by John Doe. Lodgers and locals alike will be able to experience The Airport Rooms for themselves beginning Friday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m.
