Hotchkiss Library of Sharon’s beloved annual Summer Book Signing, now in its 23rd year, is a chance for readers not only to purchase newly released books, but to chat up the authors, get their books personally inscribed, and hobnob with other literature lovers. More than 350 guests to this year’s event, held on Friday, Aug. 2 on the historic Sharon Town Green, sipped and snacked in the presence of 30 acclaimed authors and illustrators, both local and internationally known. They included Dr. Henry Kissinger (Kissinger on Kissinger), George Packer (Our Man: Richard Holbrooke and the End of the American Century), Pulitzer Prize finalist Suketa Mehta (This Land is Our Land: An Immigrant’s Manifesto), Brenda Wineapple (The Impeachers: The Trial of Andrew Johnson and the Dream of a Just Nation), Susan Choi (Trust Exercise) and many others. The Book Signing is the library’s primary annual fundraiser.
