MASS MoCA, North Adams | Hunter Center

MASS MoCA welcomes choreographer Deborah Hay for a special work-in-progress showing of Short-sighted, a new trio performed by longtime Hay collaborators Jeanine Durning, Scott Heron, and Ros Warby. Known for her radical approach to undoing learned movement and expanding perception, Hay brings her signature mix of rigor, humor, and the unexpected to this evolving piece.

Each performer responds live to Hay’s written score, tapping into decades of shared history while pushing into fresh territory. Together, they create a performance that is at once precise, absurd, and deeply attuned to presence—a hallmark of Hay’s influential career, which spans Judson Dance Theater, international retrospectives, and major awards including the Doris Duke Artist Award and France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

Tickets are $29 in advance ($39 week-of), with fees waived for MASS MoCA members. This program is supported in part by the Irene Hunter Fund for Dance at MASS MoCA in association with Jacob’s Pillow.
