May 1 | The Foundry, West Stockbridge, MA | 7:30pm

Comedians and real-life couple Liz Butler and Ben Jardine return to The Foundry for what promises to be one of the more inventive evenings in the Berkshires this spring. "The Dictionary of Moments" is a hybrid of live-written short fiction and spontaneous improv scenes. It's a format dreamed up by legendary Australian improviser Jason Geary, who brought it to the New Zealand Improv Festival before Butler and Jardine carried it stateside. "The show reinvents storytelling onstage," says Geary. "Each performance is a one-of-a-kind experience where language leaps off the page and into vivid, unscripted life."

Butler is a Pittsfield native who trained as an opera singer before falling hard for improv, clowning, and devised theatre. Jardine is a New Zealand-American writer and musician with a background in long-form improv and fiction. The two met in an improv class in Auckland in 2019 and have been selling out rooms together ever since — their previous Foundry shows include Live from International Waters, Fun Night, Perpetual Soup, and Swingers. This summer run is extra special: the rotating cast includes performers from Australia, New Zealand, and New York City, making each show its own distinct event.

The Foundry's pay-what-you-can ticket structure keeps it accessible — community tickets start at $15, general admission is $25, and a $35 pay-it-forward option helps subsidize seats for others.
