Oblong's Fall Book Fair For Grownups at Rose Hill Farm Friday
New books, vegan sweets, a gyro truck, and literary flash tattoos—with proceeds supporting local land conservation

Oblong Books is heading back to Rose Hill Farm this Friday for its Book Fair for Grown-Ups, setting up tables of new books in the taproom for an evening of browsing, cider, and good company. Oblong pitched the original spring edition as a grown-up version of the Scholastic book fairs everyone remembers from elementary school, right down to handing out stickers. The books are curated and sold by Oblong itself, so it's new stock rather than a used-book sale, picked the way the store's own staff would recommend it in the shop.
Food comes from Oh My Gyro, the Hudson Valley truck known for its gyros, falafel, and hummus. The Flour Forest is handling dessert with vegan baked goods: cookies, brownies, and cakes made by a Staatsburg baker who only started the business this year and has been building a following at farmers markets and pop-ups around the region ever since, with no storefront yet but plenty of demand.
Twin Tides Tattoo, which has shops in Wappingers Falls and Rhinebeck, is bringing something new to the book showcase—a flash sheet of tattoo designs drawn from classic literature, available first-come, first-served.
All proceeds from ticket sales go to Dutchess Land Conservancy, the local land trust that's protected close to 49,000 acres of farmland, forest, and open space across the county since it was founded in 1985.
