The Buttonball Barn launches its weekend with "Songs from the Trail," a concert dedicated to the music of the Appalachian Trail—the folk, bluegrass, and roots traditions that have grown up alongside the 2,200-mile footpath that passes through the southern Berkshires on its way between Georgia and Maine.
The Appalachian Trail crosses into Massachusetts just south of South Egremont, which makes the Barn a particularly fitting room for this kind of program. Buttonball itself is part of the Egremont Village Inn, a property dating to 1786 whose barn has been hosting live music since at least the 1970s, when it operated as the Robbie Burns Pub.
The current iteration books a wide range of folk, Americana, roots, and bluegrass acts in an intimate general admission room where the floors creak and the crowd actually came to listen.
Specific performer details haven't been announced publicly — check the Barn's website or social media closer to the date.
