Saturday, April 25, 10 AM–noon | Hudson, NY | Free

The FASNY Museum of Firefighting is bringing miniature horses to its Harry Howard Avenue campus on April 25 for Mighty Mini Horses, a free family event running from 10 am until noon.

The setup has three parts. Kids start at an "adoption barn" where they learn about how fire departments once relied on horses. Before motorized trucks took over in the early twentieth century, horse-drawn steam engines were the backbone of urban firefighting, and the care and stabling of those animals was a significant part of station life.

From there, kids pick out a stuffed horse to take home. Then comes the main attraction: actual miniature horses on the grounds, courtesy of High & Mighty Therapeutic Riding and Driving Center.

The event comes with free museum admission for everyone who attends. No reservations required. Activities are outdoors, with tents in case of rain.
